Civil & Structural Engineering

Reinforced Concrete

Reinforced concrete structures can be constructed either using pre-cast segmental units erected on site or by the more common approach of cast in-situ. In-situ construction can be achieved using either traditional formwork, proprietary formwork systems or permanent formwork. A combination of these is often adopted to take advantage of their individual benefits, the structure itself and the site conditions.

Structural Foundations

All types of structural foundations can be undertaken including mass or reinforced concrete. Flexible foundations can also be constructed. These often consist of a compacted granular material with some form of capping layer.

Bridge Decks

Construction of bridge decks can be carried out to meet the new European legislation which specifies gross weight capacities of 44 tonne vehicles. This can be carried out to all current Highway specifications, using both temporary or permanent formwork or a combination of both.

Bases

Structural base slabs, a common feature supporting mechanical and electrical equipment in modules is frequently encountered A particular example of this is in the Telecommunication Industry and wind power generation.

Steel Frame Buildings

Modern building construction utilizes steel frame designs. Installation of these is often a difficult and complex task requiring a high degree of skill to meet demanding schedules. Lakeland Construction can assist in every aspect of these works from foundations to cladding and guttering.
